Dream Journal

I need to write this stuff down. Last night’s dream consisted of a 1959 black & white costume party. No joke, the carpet, the furniture, even the artwork in this home that was custom built for this party was all black & white. Even everyone’s costumes. You felt like you were in an old black & white photo. And people spoke differently. The invite requested that everyone remove words like “like” “dude” “rad” and other post-50’s words from their vernacular for the evening. And it totally worked.

Thanks Hal

66 Days of No Twitter = Stupid Idea

Since I jumped on Twitter in May 2007, I’ve tried to be radically transparent since that was always the beauty of Twitter to me — not just some love letter to links or just another cul de sac where redundant posts go to die, but a conversation and a simple way to connect with friends and interesting people. So you can imagine how tough it’s been for me to have to “give up” Twitter because of a few lurkers. The decision to be transparent finally came back to bite me in the ass in mid-June, around the same time the Lakers won their 5th championship. I went off twitter to reassess how I interacted with my social networks and what information I shared. But being off of twitter for that long was stupid and keeps me from connecting with the people I like. So f it. I’m back. My lurker alarm is set and I’m good to go. Feels good to be back.

Thanks to @mattknisely for this one

Best shot of Mad Men tonight. Does he remain seated? Does he get up? Such a beautifully executed awkward moment.

OMG I WANT IT NOW!!!!

Awesomeness

You don’t see that everyday.

After I told her, I felt relieved. I kept thinking how small it was compared to how long it went on… I could tell the minute she saw who I really was, she never wanted to look at me again. Which is why I never told her.

Dana Rouse - "We Shall Behold Him"

My sister Dana singing “We Shall Behold Him” at her house on Mother’s Day 2010 for me, my parents and Betty Price. Her husband Ed is playing piano. Dana sang this song at the funeral service for David Brantingham on May 8, 2010 at Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village.

Atlanta Highlights (Jan 2010)

I did a site visit this week for an upcoming program and enjoyed some of what Atlanta has to offer. Here’s the list:

Two Urban Licks
Make sure you try the lobster corn dogs, the wines on tap and their beef ribs.

The Lobby Lounge at the Ritz Carlton, Buckhead
Great live jazz (not too loud) and friendly service in a very “old world” Atlanta spot.

The Palm | Atlanta
Always amazing no matter which city you’re in.

Blind Willie’s Blues
Such a great, classic blues club. We had a great time listening to Tommy Brown.

Drinks enjoyed:
2005 Jordan Cabernet (my first time having one)
20-Year Taylor Tawny Port (of course)
2005 Eddy Elodian Cabernet (a wonderful wine)

Thanks to everyone at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center for their hospitality and help with getting around Atlanta. See you soon!
